All of the photographs included in the original Shantallow paperback were CC0 images. I transformed the originals into black and white and further grungified them to maximize their eeriness. Shantallow is the first novel I've written which included any kind of interior visual element and I hope this enhanced the feeling of an oppressive and malevolent claustrophobia. The house was such an important feature in the novel and the images also helped me visualize the action. A total of thirty-one photos appeared in the original paperback but haven't been included in the latest release of Shantallow due to logistical issues.
